An AI-Powered System Running Parul University's Ayurveda Department

Nexgale built MediAryu, a full department-management system for Parul University's Ayurveda department, with AI woven into the work itself — generating weekly exams and checking practical logs — not just tracking that the work happened.

The challenge

Running an academic department end to end — teaching schedules, weekly exams, and every student's practical logs — is a heavy, continuous administrative load when it's done by hand, and it only grows with the size of the department. Parul University's Ayurveda department needed one system to hold all of it: what's being taught, how students are examined week to week, and what practical work each student has completed and had checked.

On top of that, the manual work of writing exams and checking practical logs one by one doesn't scale to a department of this size — the university wanted AI doing real work inside that process, not just a dashboard summarising it.

Our approach

Nexgale designed and built MediAryu as one system that runs the Ayurveda department's academic operations: teaching tracking, weekly exams, and practical logs, all in one place. AI is built into the actual workflow rather than added on top — it generates weekly exams and checks students' practical logs directly, so faculty aren't starting every exam from a blank page or checking every log by hand.

The system runs on Parul University's own servers, the same private infrastructure as the other systems Nexgale operates for the university, and connects a Next.js front end to a Python FastAPI and Express-based backend, with MongoDB and PostgreSQL holding department data and several LLMs — including a ChatGPT API integration — powering the exam-generation and log-checking work.

What we built

Teaching and weekly exam tracking

MediAryu tracks what's being taught and runs the department's weekly exam cycle in one system, instead of spreading it across separate tools and paper records.

AI-generated exams

AI drafts weekly exams directly inside the system, so faculty start from a generated exam rather than writing each one from scratch.

AI-checked practical logs

Students' practical logs are checked by AI, handling the volume of log review that would otherwise fall entirely on teaching staff.

On-premise deployment on Parul's own servers

MediAryu runs on the university's own infrastructure, alongside the other systems Nexgale operates for Parul, keeping department and student data inside the institution's environment.

Outcome

MediAryu is live and in daily use by more than 5,000 students in Parul University's Ayurveda department. Weekly exams are generated by AI rather than written from scratch each week, and practical logs are checked by AI rather than queued up for manual review.

The department now runs its teaching tracking, exams, and practical logs through one system — with AI doing real work inside that process, not just recording that it happened.
