A Paperless Practical Logbook for Medical Students, Live Across Parul University

Medical students have to record every practical they complete, and for years that meant a physical logbook: written by hand, carried between labs and wards, and checked page by page by teaching staff. A stack of paper logbooks is slow to fill in, easy to damage or lose, and slower still for a professor to review across a whole cohort — there's no way to search it, no proof beyond a signature, and no way to check progress without physically opening every student's book.

Parul University needed a way to keep the same practical record-keeping discipline — every practical logged, every log checked and signed off by faculty — without the paper, and without asking students or professors to change how or where they work from.

Nexgale designed and built a digital practical logbook that Parul's medical students use directly from their phone, tablet, or laptop. Instead of writing an entry by hand, a student fills in the practical details and attaches a photo or PDF as proof of the work — the same evidence a paper logbook captured, just digitised.

Faculty and professors review and confirm these entries online, without managing a single physical register. The system runs on Parul University's own servers, the same private infrastructure as the other systems Nexgale operates for the university, so student records stay inside the institution's environment.

The digital logbook is live and in daily use by more than 2,000 students at Parul University, who now submit their practical logs — with photo or PDF proof — from whatever device they have on hand. Faculty review and confirm that work online instead of working through physical registers.

What used to be a paper process spread across individual logbooks now runs as one digital system: every practical logged, every log reviewable by faculty, and none of it dependent on a physical book staying intact and in the right hands.
